Odds 'n' Sods of Information and Opinion

Maitland River, Goderich, Ontario

Thanks to Mark, we spent the weekend fishing the Maitland. The river was in beautiful condition, having recently had a push of rain, but the cold front followed by bluebird skies didn't do much for the fishing.

Mark has a new cottage and we put it to use, filling it with gear, waders and other stuff.

Did manage this one on my
Emerald Shiner tube, G. Loomis 13' 8/9 PRO-4X, Airflo Compact Skagit 570 and a homemade T14 tip. Used a long, thin fluorocarbon leader to get some separation from the tip in that clear water.

Later on at Benmiller, I got up on the bridge and had a good look for fish but saw none. Conversations with other anglers revealed that they weren’t doing any better.

While the fish didn't want to cooperate, the whisky and the company made the trip worthwhile.

Managed this one though. Photo courtesy of Mark, as well as the tailing.
