Saugeen River 1998 to the present

The Saugeen River has a very large watershed with many interesting tributaries such as the Beatty and the Rocky Saugeen. The river is a veritable fish factory, but it can muddy up and blow out easily. When the river is running clear, it’s a great place to fish.
Mark from PA nymphing a heavy duty run.
Dave from MA fighting a fish from the drift boat.
Dave wrestling with the salmon. Probably the biggest fish of his life up till then. I watched his backing disappear then told him to get out of the boat and chase it.
A pretty corner of the river.
Dave and John Valk with a nice chromer
Nice fresh salmon of mine.
Though dark, this salmon put up a ferocious fight, including a run under the boat and out the other side, around the oars and back around the bow.
A couple of my steelhead from a drift trip.
Spey casting into the murk. This shows how much the river can muddy up after one rain.
Monster smallie. 7 lbs. 24 1/4 inches. Taken on top with a deer hair popper.
John with a nice smallie.
