Joining T STuff to Fly Line

Welding T14 and other sizes of T stuff is just a pain; no other way to describe it. T material goes from not melted to overdone in a heartbeat. Getting it right is a matter of having lots of scrap to practice on. The thin T stuff line doesn't have much PVC/PU in it, plus it has heat absorbing tungsten and of course, its blackness. It heats fast and melts fast. Welding this stuff onto regular floater fly line opens up a new bag of problems as the floater material won't respond to heat the same way as the T stuff.

Some of my best results have come from welding PVC or PU T stuff to PU floater as the melting points are not that far apart. Welding T stuff to PVC can be done and I have managed to get reliable welds, but it's a lot more frustrating. PU T stuff to PU floater has been my most reliable weld, but unfortunately I've not found a source for buying it in bulk. Buying 20' lengths gets expensive fast.
